Provenance: from the Aldrich bequest, listed in Archives 1717, item I15, as 'Guiovanni's madrigals', and in Dowding (main hand) as 'Gio. di Castro's Madrigals à 3. Antw. 1620. The Tenor only'. Oblong format, 210 x 170 mm. Early C17th wrappers of grey paper; now within an early C20th binding of limp vellum with ties. On the original upper wrapper, an unidentified English hand, mid C17th, has added 'Giovanni De Castro Tenore. 3.
